Here is a small sampling of the huge swath of newspaper ads I have designed so far. Each client’s ad obviously required its own unique approach. Most of the times the text was provided and the rest left up to me. Some were more specific in their requirements, others let me – as they put it – “be creative.”

Overall, I would say the biggest challenge usually with print ads for newspapers is the client’s tendency to want to put as much information as possible into the space they are paying for, and understandably so. However, design-wise the issue then becomes in how to find that balance between content overflow, visual hierarchy, and ease of reading.
